Rapper Lil’ Wayne’s $14M La Gorce Island home could be seized

From left: the La Gorce Island home that Goldstein is looking to seize and rapper Lil’ Wayne
Following a November judgment against him in a contract dispute, the rapper known as Lil’ Wayne may lose the La Gorce Island home, for which he reportedly paid $14 million in 2010, Gossip Extra reported.
Wayne’s production company, Young Money, should perhaps consider a change of name — maybe Young Bankruptcy? — as it now owes $3.4 million in fines and legal fees, Gossip Extra said. Since the company failed to pay what it owes, authorities may seize assets, including the home.
Miami lawyer David Goldstein — the attorney for victorious plaintiff Quincy Jones III in the case and the party to whom the legal fees are due — is moving to seize some of Wayne’s South Florida assets, including the waterfront home and several pricey cars, Gossip Extra said.
Wayne paid $7.7 million in back taxes on the home last year, and listed it for $12.9 million, though it does not appear that a sale is moving forward.

Tony Robbins and the interior of 750 South Ocean Boulevard
Motivational speaker and life coach Anthony “Tony” Robbins purchased an oceanfront home at 750 South Ocean Boulevard in Manalapan for $24.75 million, according to a statement released today by the sponsor’s broker. This marks the second-highest price paid for a Palm Beach County home outside the town of Palm Beach, the statement said. The Corcoran Group’s Jim McCann represented the developer, called only 750 South Ocean.
“This was the only brand new home on the direct ocean in Palm Beach County available for purchase, and as soon as it hit the market there was a high level of interest,” McCann said in the statement.
The developer, a Palm Beach real estate family, is also building a mansion on the adjacent property at 800 South Ocean Boulevard that they had planned on keeping for their own use. However, the near record-setting sale has the family rethinking things.
Robbins’ new Georgian style home has more than 11,000-square feet of living space on two acres and spans all the way from the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway.
McCann said that the 800 South Ocean property should be complete in about 45 days, but whether or not the developer chooses to sell remains to be seen. – Evan Bleier

The penthouse’s balcony
One Thousand Ocean has closed the sale of one of its penthouse units for $8.7 million, or $1,540 per square foot — the highest per-square-foot price to date at the building, according to an announcement today from the developers.
The international buyer of the unit, known as “the Beach,” plans to build out the residence with One Thousand Ocean’s development team supervising the process. The units feature a private elevator lobby, floor-to-ceiling windows, a separate glass-enclosed bonus room, a private pool-deck cabana and a private three-car garage.
“The new owner wanted a place for his family to come to that felt safe and was an active playground, even when he may not be here with them,” Maria Scarola of LXR Realty said in the statement. ”There’s a lot less traffic in Boca, and his family can cruise across Lake Boca aboard the resort’s Mizner’s Dream shuttle boat to enjoy ice cream at Serendipity or dinner at numerous restaurants on property without getting into their car.”
The sale is the third for the building in March, bringing this month’s sales volume to nearly $20 million and bumping up occupancy to 93 percent. The sales leave only four units available for purchase in the Boca Raton condominium project. –Christopher Cameron

A two-acre oceanfront Palm Beach property known as Paradisio del Mar has hit the market asking $32.5 million, according to John Poletto and Mark Nestler of Nestler Poletto Sotheby’s International Realty, who are co-listing the home. The house features a gated entry, oceanfront portico, twin marble staircases, library, billiard room, media room and a wood-paneled study with a hearth, according to the listing. The three-story property, located at 1960 South Ocean Boulevard in Manalapan, also includes multiple balconies and a massive 30-car garage.
The home’s boat dock can accommodate a 125-foot yacht with self-contained diesel and gas fueling on the grounds, in addition to lifts for jet skis and power boats.
“This is one of the most unique and extraordinary oceanfront … estates in Florida and will appeal to our most discerning national and international clientele,” Poletto told The Real Deal.
Poletto added that he plans to release a promotional video highlighting the property’s high-end amenities in the coming months.
“Our marketing strategy includes a cinematic quality video showcasing the luxurious lifestyle at Paradisio del Mar and a special magazine highlighting the Manalapan compound, to be distributed to qualified buyers globally.”

A rendering of an Edition unit
A 2,000-square-foot two-bedroom condominium at the Residences at the Miami Beach Edition has sold for $6 million, or $3,000 per square foot, The Real Deal has learned.
“It’s a sexy, little bachelor pad,” said Toni Schrager of Avatar Real Estate Services, who handled the sale.
The Edition, a 26-unit John Pawson-designed combination condo-hotel, is set to open in 2014. The project features 26 condo units ranging from one-to-four bedrooms, on the top two floors of a 250-room hotel designed by Ian Schrager, which is set to include a bowling alley and an ice-skating rink.
“[The buyer] had been waiting for Ian to do something in Miami for a while,” Toni Schrager told TRD. “He’s just a big fan of his style and knows that whatever he does always turns out great.”
The apartment has a 14,000-square-foot balcony and a rooftop terrace overhead.
The Edition launched sales in January. Last month, Coldwell Banker’s William Pierce sold a$34 million combined-unit penthouse at the project.

Biscayne Boulevard towers planned by Chateau Group would alter Miami skyline April 08, 2013 02:00PM

Freedom Tower to be dwarfed by two new proposed towers?
The Chateau Group, the developers behind Chateau Beach in Sunny Isles and Chateau Ocean in Surfside, has submitted plans to build a 709-foot-tall tower at 700 Biscayne Boulevard, according to Curbed. The developers have also submitted plans to build a 704-foot-tall building one block away at 600 Biscayne Boulevard, the same address as the Freedom Tower.
The new towers will certainly have an impact on Miami’s skyline when and if they are built, but there is no guarantee that will actually happen. There have been other plans to build towers at both locations that have never come to fruition, Curbed noted.
Previous plans had a tower at 600 Biscayne Boulevard called Freedom Square and a project at 700 Biscayne called Paramount Park, Curbed said.
It’s unclear whether the new towers would have the same designs as the previous projects.

Sun Life Stadium rendering
Pro football team the Miami Dolphins and Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez have reached an “unprecedented” deal to renovate the Sun Life Stadium, according to an announcement last night by team owner Stephen Ross, NBC Miami reported. The deal stipulates that the Dolphins will foot 70 percent of costs, estimated at around $389 million.
Commissioners are slated to meet today regarding the partnership, and if both sides agree on the plan, it will head to a May 14 vote.
“When the people of Miami-Dade go to the polls, we are confident they will support this partnership, where the Dolphins will pay approximately 70 percent costs, will repay approximately $167 million to the state and county, will pay for 100 percent of any cost overruns during construction, and will be committed to staying in Miami-Dade for the next 30 years,” Ross told NBC in a statement.
Miami-Dade County will up its hotel tax rate to 7 percent from 6 percent under the deal — 75 percent of the tax revenue will go to the Dolphins. The first year is expected to bring them $7.5 million, with a 3 percent annual cap each following year. [NBC Miami] –Zachary Kussin
